Business media — print, online, TV and convergent — could outpace the rest of the media as business progressively takes the centre stage in our lives. As an industry sector, the media has the potential to vroom ahead of other sectors of the booming Indian economy.
The trend is already visible. India is the only large economy to have six English-language business papers and four business news channels. New business magazines have been launched (Forbes); some more have been lined up (Fortune). Business publishing is extending fast to Indian languages as well, ET Hindi, ET Gujarati and Business Bhaskar being some examples of such publications. The need for a well-trained business journalists has never been higher.
